Bangladesh 50 at the British Library

Bangladesh 50 was hosted by the British Library, produced by Bloomsbury Festival and Camden Mela, in association with the Bangladesh High Commission, KCBNA and Holborn Community Association.

The event took place on Sunday 17 October 2021 during the Bloomsbury Festival. A schedule of performers and speakers can be found below the images.

Main Stage

5.00 – Poetry by Dabirul Islam Choudhury OBE, with poetry readings from young people

5.30 – Singing by Gouri Choudhury, renowned British Bangladeshi singer

6.00 – Speeches included 

  • Roly Keating welcome to the British Library
  • Her Excellency Saida Muna Tasneem, the Bangladeshi High Commissioner  
  • Mayor of Camden Councillor Sabrina Francis 
  • Nasim Ali Chair of Camden Mela

6.30 – Performance of Rebel by Mukul: Ghetto Tigers & Arunima Kumar 

7.00 – Singing by Sharmin Dipu, renowned singer from Bangladesh

7.30 – Krishna Shil, finalist in The Voice Kids UK 2018

Ghost and John presented Radio Neighbourhood in the Piazza and Mohammed Ali, Soul City Arts and Guildhall School of Music and Arts presented the film projection Bangladeshi Tales of Kings Cross.
